Douwe was my once-in-a-lifetime horse, my heart horse, my soulmate. He taught me so much about life and the power of patience, love, and building trust. He was considered dangerous, unwanted, and misunderstood when I met him. It took many years to break through his many layers of emotional and physical blockages to discover how highly intelligent, personable, and loving he really was. Losing him has been the greatest loss of my life but I am forever grateful for the 12 years we had together. Click here to read more about his story.
After Douwe passed away in 2020 I decided to keep all of his remaining originals. Many of his original works are now available as fine art prints. I know that Douwe’s legacy will continue to inspire equestrians for years to come.
