Named after the vibrant blue tones, this painting was created during a busy time in my life. Back in August of 2019 I was on a whirlwind to prepare for the World Equestrian Games (WEG) in Tryon, NC. We were invited to perform our Art on Horseback demo as part of the Equine Film Festival after our video won an award.

I was experimenting with canvas size and what colors I would like to use at WEG and tried this square canvas to see what we could do. The benefits of a slightly smaller canvas would help with transportation, setup for the demo, and make it easier to display when all was said and done. It was a challenge to create aboard my sweet horse Rovandio but we did it.

All in all, I decided that painting on this size canvas was not going to work in the long haul but it was fun to try! I love to experiment with new ideas, they don’t always work but that’s part of the artistic process. Recently, I tried using a broom and a mop as very large paintbrushes! They were a little hard to handle but my Working Equitation skills with the garrocha pole came in handy!
